EU proposes ban on sale of cat & dog fur

Europe is to ban the import, export and sale of cat and dog fur in response to a huge public outcry over the barbaric treatment of the animals, it was announced today.

Evidence of a thriving cat and dog fur trade in many European countries including France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark, has been exposed by the Humane Society International.

Did you know that in order to produce veal, young calves are taken from their mothers and chained by the neck in crates measuring just two feet wide? They cannot turn around, stretch their limbs, or even lie down comfortably. This severe confinement makes the calves' meat “tender” since the animals' muscles cannot develop.

There's a place in your community where the hungry are fed, the homeless are sheltered, and the abandonned are given care. It's your local animal shelter. Animal shelters are your best source when looking to adopt a pet. Not only do they have a great selection of adult animals for adoption, but kittens and puppies, and even purebred animals.

Protest China's persecution of dogs

China is at it again. As you know, more than 50,000 dogs were brutally beaten, electrocuted, or shot to death this past July in response to a rabies outbreak in southwestern China.

Now officials in Beijing are taking people's dogs from them.

Mahsoom [innocent] needs our help!

Mahsoom, a six year old boy, sustained severe burns to his face, chest, and arm due to a home fire approximately one year ago. Because of the severity of the scarring, he is unable to close the left side of his mouth and has difficulty eating and drinking. His father brought him to the American military base in Farah, Afghanistan. During their visit, the child was holding a dried poppy flower to cover the left side of his face.
